What is Classic Christians?

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."   Romans 12:1


There are many ideas of what a classic is.  The dictionary meaning according to Webster is, "serving as a standard of excellence of recognized value".   As I began delving into what makes a classic, I realized that striving to be a classic Christian person might be a good thing.  We aren't cars that someone will drive in a parade someday or that may end up in a museum, but each of us can set a standard that our children, family, and friends can look up to. Our lives can have a recognized value in the way that we live it.

How would we know  if we are classic....well lets see,
Do we have Heritage?
 Classic cars, toys, and other things classic are mostly known by their maker or manufacturer.   As a Christian we have a wonderful heritage.   We are God's children.

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.   The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God; And if children, then heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."    Romans 8:14-17

"Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ." Galatians 4:7

If someone turned you over to reveal your maker, would you have the right mark of identification? Have you accepted Christ as your personal Savior?

Do we have Quality. ?
When we think of a classic, we usually think of something that has quality.   We think of the effectiveness and the essential character that it has.   As Christians what could be more fitting as our quality, than holiness, because we serve a holy God.

"Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."   I Peter 1:13-16

Do we have Value?
We normally hang a pretty high price tag on our classics.   Think how much a classic car can range. In Christ, we have value too. It is nothing that we are on our own.  In contrast, He gave us our value when He died on the cross to save our souls.  What is more compelling to make us want to live our lives in His will and to reflect that value He has given us?

"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."    I Corinthians 6:19,20

Are we Recognizable?
Classics of any type are easy to recognize.  There's that little detailing that marks them as unique. How about us?   When people look at us, do they know we are a Christian?  Can they tell who our Maker is?

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.   By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."    John 13:34,35
Are we Timeless?
You all know those movies we consider classics, such as It's A Wonderful Life or a classic book, such as Little Women.  The classics are ones we can watch over and over or read over and over again. How many of our lives would we want replayed?  Are we living in a way that our actions and deeds are worthy of being a classic?  Are we leaving an example for our children?  Are we leaving a heritage that is worth remembering or is all we've made just a fad that fades away?

Conforming to the will of God and being in tune with Him in all aspects of our lives will help us live the life we should and make our lives worthy of remembering.

I trust that we'll all strive to be classic Christian people. If we are parents, we should strive even so much more because we have children that take our lives for their examples. We don't even have to be dead and gone to see what effect we have on our children. We can see it in them as they continue to grow from day to day. Our children should have wonderful strengths and qualities that come out in them by what they learned as a result of our examples. Christ was our ultimate example.

No one should have to turn us over to check the mark of our Maker.  We should live in a way that it exudes from us.  When we've left this earth, other's memories of us should conjure up something with the classic lines that a well-lived life of a Christian should have.-JBettencourt

El Fin se acerca?

“…Porque vendrán muchos en mi nombre, diciendo: Yo soy el Cristo; y a muchos engañarán. Y oiréis de guerras y rumores de guerras; mirad que no os turbéis, porque es necesario que todo esto acontezca; pero aún no es el fin. Porque se levantará nación contra nación, y reino contra reino; y habrá pestes, y hambres, y terremotos en diferentes lugares. Y todo esto será principio de dolores...” (Mateo 24:5-8)

El panorama que se nos presenta a nivel mundial no puede ser peor, pues las guerras, el terrorismo imperante, la violencia y los desastres naturales cuya ocurrencia cada vez es más devastadora, nos mantienen en una constante zozobra y la oración más ferviente de los que creemos es “Señor depáranos un mejor mañana”.

Lo más reciente en materia de desastres nos llega como noticia triste desde Ecuador, pero bien pudiera ser una catástrofe de la que no está exento ningún otro país del mundo, pues la Biblia nos enseña que los tiempos que anteceden al fin estarán caracterizados por todos estos fenómenos.

 

Los que hemos creído que nuestras vidas están escondidas con Cristo en Dios, tenemos una esperanza, pero no debemos olvidar que más devastador que los eventos que se vienen sucediendo, es la apostasía y el ateísmo práctico(ser cristianos, pero vivir como si Dios no existiera), que se viene observando en el mundo evangélico, por lo que estar apercibidos y apercibiendo a nuestro prójimo, de que estamos a la puerta de un evento espiritual único, tiene que ser una verdad a proclamar, y un reto para perseverar por todos aquellos que formamos el pueblo de Dios, pues nuestro día nadie lo sabe.

Lo importante por ahora es prepararnos para que sea por la causa que sea, cuando tengamos que partir de este mundo, podamos decirle a nuestro rey: “Señor, al menos intenté alcanzar la santidad.-F Medina

 

Preparemonos como si Cristo viniera mañana y trabajemos para engrandecer su reino como si no viniera nunca! Vivamos como a EL le agrada:))

Caught in the Storm

Have you ever been caught in a storm? Stormy weather can cause some very intense feelings and reactions in us.
In Matthew 14:22-33 is the story of Peter walking on the water. To set the scene, a storm came up while the disciples were in a ship and they were afraid when they saw Jesus walking on the water toward them. Jesus told them Who He was and then Peter, one of the disciples walked on the water too--well, at first. When Peter looked around and saw the storm, he was afraid.

Maybe you are in a storm in your life too. It's natural to be afraid. Here's Peter, one of the disciples who learned at Jesus' feet and even he was afraid, but look what it says in Matthew 14:31 after Peter began to sink and called out to Christ. 
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him,
and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 

Did you notice that? Jesus caught Peter and was with him until they were come to the ship. It doesn't say that Jesus stopped the storm and then they went to the ship. It says that when they reached the ship, that the wind ceased. Sometimes we are going to have to go through the storm. Sometimes the Lord will take the storm away, but other times we have to weather it out. Aren't you glad that Jesus is there to weather it out with us?

Jesus knew His disciples were going to be in that boat when the storm came up....Just as He knows our own storms.  He sent them there. We may question why the Lord tells us to do something or where He has sent us, or even the things that we have to deal with because it may not be smooth sailing. We may question why the Lord is causing storms in our lives when all we want to do is to serve Him and obey Him. This story shows me that sometimes we can be right where God wants us--right where He told us to go--right in the center of His will and we can still have some storms come up. What we can take comfort in is the fact that the Lord knows all about those storms and He's there with us through them. Now this makes me a happy woman , to know we don't ever have to walk alone, either it be on our sunny days or stormy nights!- JB

Más que la miel a mi boca.

 

Toda Escritura es inspirada por Dios, Y util para enseñar, para redarguir, para instruir en justicia, a fin de que el hombre de Dios sea perfecto, Y enteramente preparado para toda buena obra. 2 Timoteo 3:16-17.

 

Un 2 de Diciembre 1947, en un poblado llamado " El Limoncito" estado de Jalisco Mexico, fallecio un humilde creyente indigena llamado " El hermano Silverio ." Dos meses antes habia testificado de su fe en el Señor mediante el Bautismo. Al regresar a casa cayo enfermo, y a pesar de su grave enfermedad paso por dura persecucion. Las autoridades de aquel lugar lo amenazaron quitandole su derecho a sus tierras que el sembraba si no dejaba su nueva religion. En presencia de las autoridades y sus hijos, pidio a su esposa que le trajera su Biblia.

Con el sagrado libro en la mano le dijo; Aqui esta tu tierra, tu herencia y la de tus hijos. A nadie se la entregues. Leela mucho , luego pidio que cantasen su himno favorito. Les acompaño en cuatro palabras solamente y entrego su espiritu.

 

La Biblia es nuestro alimento spiritual,

Salmos 5:3 dice; Oh Jehova, de mañana oiras mi voz, de mañana me presentare delante de ti, y esperare.

Quizas la mañana es el major momento para leer nuestra Biblia ya que nuestra mente esta mas despejada.  Pero donde sea o cuando sea, lo importante es tomar tiempo cada dia para leer la Biblia!

Como un nuevo amanecer

Deuteronomio 28:6-7-Bendito serás en tu entrar, y bendito en tu salir. Jehová derrotará a tus enemigos que se levantaren contra ti; por un camino saldrán contra ti, y por siete caminos huirán de delante de ti…”

Estas palabras nos dicen que cuando confiamos en Él, Él nos guiara a través de cualquier prueba por la que quizás estemos atravesando. Dios quiere abrirnos hoy un camino nuevo lleno de Su presencia, para que podamos atravesar ese desierto de depresión, y desanimo sin caer. Dios quiere abrir hoy un camino nuevo en nuestro desierto, para que podamos superar todo lo malo. Dios quiere darnos hoy de beber de ese rió de aguas viva para que nunca más estemos sedientos . No permitamos que el enemigo que nos desvié del camino que Dios ha escogido para nosotros. No permitamos que el enemigo nos deprima o desanime, trayendo a memoria nuestro pasado; tenemos que concentrarnos en Dios, tenemos que concentrarnos en lo que Él quiere hacer con nosotros y por nosotros.

Reflexiona y medita; escucha que Dios nos dice hoy: “…He aquí que yo hago cosas nuevas”. Dios desea  y puede renovarnos ,  bendecirnos, pero tenemos que quererlo:))

De que agua estas bebiendo?

Juan 7:37-39

Jesús hablo estas palabras en el último y gran día de la Fiesta de los Tabernáculos. Era la Fiesta en el cual los judíos recordaban su éxodo por el desierto. En esta Fiesta ellos hacían cabañas para simbolizar los años que no tuvieron hogar, recordaban los milagros que habían sucedido durante la travesía del desierto. (El mar Rojo, la columna de nube de día y la columna de fuego por la noche, el mana y el agua de la roca.)

Jesús estaba en medio de la multitud cuando los sacerdotes regresaban del estanque de Siloé en una procesión extremadamente gozosa, de mucho regocijo; la cual consistía que grupos de sacerdotes, dirigidos por el Sumo sacerdote, cada día extraían agua del estanque de Siloé en vasijas de oro y plata, para ser rociadas (como libaciones) en el altar del Atrio del Templo. En el último día, cuando la Fiesta estaba en su máxima expresión de gozo y regocijo y mientras el Sumo Sacerdote decía:

“Sacaréis aguas con alegría Del manantial de la salvación”. (Isaías 12: 3) Jesús se levantó y gritó: Si alguien tiene sed, que venga a mí y beba.  Las Escrituras dicen que del interior del que cree en mí saldrán ríos de agua viva. (Juan 7: 37 – 38 PDT

Jesús parado en medio  invitándolos a vivir lo sobrenatural, delante de ellos estaba el mismo que los había guiado, guardado y alimentado por el desierto y ellos no lo entendían.

 

Tomar del agua que Jesus ofrece viviremos en los sobrenatural.....con poder.

Seremos llenos de su espiritu.....Y veremos Milagros y maravillas impresiontes.

 Jesús dijo: Las Escrituras dicen que del interior del que cree en mí saldrán ríos de agua viva. Se está refiriendo a Ezequiel 47: 1 – 9.

Hoy ese río está fluyendo para convertirse en una grande corriente de avivamiento!

El Sindrome de Elias

 El caso de una mujer de 55 años que se arrojó al vacío desde su apartamento en el piso 14*. Minutos antes de su muerte vio a un hombre lavando ventanas en un edificio cercano. Lo saludó y le sonrió; él le sonrió y le devolvió el saludo. Cuando el hombre se dio vuelta para continuar con su trabajo, ella saltó.
Había dejado la siguiente nota sobre un escritorio muy prolijo y ordenado: "No puedo soportar un día más de esta soledad. Mi teléfono nunca suena. Nunca recibo cartas. No tengo amigos."
Otra mujer que vivía en el mismo piso, dijo a los periodistas: "Ojalá hubiera sabido que ella estaba tan sola. Yo me siento de la misma manera."
Usted y yo estamos rodeados de personas solas.
¿Quién experimenta soledad y desesperación? Por cierto que la persona que vive en forma anónima en una ciudad populosa. Pero también el extranjero, el rico, el miserable, el divorciado, el padre soltero, el joven, el hombre de negocios, el profesional, el ama de casa, el que no tiene trabajo... Nadie está inmune a la soledad.
Hasta los hombres y mujeres de Dios a veces experimentan soledad.
En el Antiguo Testamento Elías se destaca como el más dramático y vehemente profeta de Dios. Paró la lluvia, desafió a un rey cara a cara, hizo caer fuego del cielo, mandó ejecutar a cientos de falsos profetas y predijo con exactitud la fecha en que terminaría una sequía de tres años y medio.
Sin embargo, en el Nuevo Testamento leemos que "Elías era tan humano como nosotros" (Santiago 5:17 BD). De modo que él también vivió momentos de angustia y soledad.
Como resultado de cuatro pasos equivocados, Elías terminó en el desierto, bajo un árbol y totalmente desesperado (1 Reyes 18:46-19:4).  Estaba exhausto físicamente.  Se turbó emocionalmente.  No acudió a Dios espiritualmente. Y se aisló socialmente.
... Al final terminó desfalleciente bajo un árbol en un lugar desierto y lloró: "Es suficiente, Señor. Lleva mi vida. Quiero morirme."
¿Alguna vez has sentido  un desaliento total y te has visto sin nadie cerca que te anime? ¿Has experimentado en alguna ocasión el síndrome de Elías?
Note cómo Dios satisface cada una de las necesidades del profeta en el momento de la crisis. Físicamente, Dios le da alimento y un buen descanso. Emocionalmente, el Señor le hace saber a Elías que su presencia está con él y lo anima. Espiritualmente, Dios exhorta a Elías a seguirlo una vez más. Socialmente, el Señor le habla a Elías acerca de un gran número de hombres y mujeres de Dios con quienes podrá tener camaradería y recibirá aun más ánimo.
De la misma manera, Dios quiere suplir nuestras necesidades personales, apreciado lector. Usted no puede vivir la vida cristiana victoriosa en soledad y en sus propias fuerzas. Es imposible. Sólo experimentamos victoria por el poder del Cristo viviente!!
Utiliza tu soledad o desaliento como una motivacion ...... No permanezcas sentado bajo el árbol de la desesperación. Las últimas palabras de Jesucristo fueron que estaría con nosotros siempre (Mateo 28:20). El quiere ser tu mejor amigo.

Freedom

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

A very well known part of history is the "Freedom Lady"
The cornerstone was laid in 1793, but the crowning touch, is the statue on top of the rotunda known as the “Freedom Lady” that was placed there in 1863.
Sculpted in Rome, “the Lady” was brought to America aboard a sailing ship. During the trip across the Atlantic Ocean, a fierce storm developed. The Captain ordered cargo thrown overboard to lighten the load. The sailors wanted to throw the heavy statue overboard, but the captain refused, shouting over the wind, “No! Never! We’ll flounder before we throw ‘Freedom’ away.” And so, “Freedom” was saved, and the statue stands above the dome today, because one man stood for “Freedom.”

We can rest in what God has done for us, because of what Jesus has done to make us free. John writes in
Revelation 1:5

  "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
 To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood."

Freedom is for resting in what God has done for us.

 

Understanding freedom is a bit like understanding kite flying. If the wind is strong, the kite goes higher, and grows smaller and smaller as it tugs against the string. The harder the wind blows, the higher the kite rises. Then let’s say the string breaks! The kite is free, but no longer soars higher. It is tumbling, and crashes to the ground or becomes tangled in the trees. What kept the kite airborne was the restraint of the string. When that was lost, the kite was unable to fly. We are never freed until we are restrained by something that pulls us higher and higher.

 

There is no freedom in life until one belongs to God. Every other form of it is an illusion. We find the freedom to achieve the greatest desires of our lives only when we live in that relationship. The loving life of freedom is lived out wisely as we follow the Holy Spirit in how we live. Paul offers us a life empowered by the Holy Spirit when he writes in

Galatians 5:22-23- " But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." NLT

 

We have been freed for resting in what God has done for us and responding with a life empowered by the Holy Spirit.
As Christians we should always take our freedom  joyously, we ( nation ) is   founded on freedom , specially the ultimate freedom in Jesus Christ.  This freedom in Christ calls us to celebrate it, to share and to live it out each day. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free!

No vivas en sequia

Nuestro país esta pasando por un gran periodo de sequía, es muy frecuente ver cuando viajamos por campos que antiguamente estaban reverdecidos, ahora totalmente secos, tierras totalmente áridas, podemos apreciar a simple vista que el ambiente que reina es un ambiente de muerte, si viajamos cerca del mar podemos percibir el olor característico de la muerte, el olor a podrido, y todo esto es debido a que por la gran sequía que hay, parte de las playas se han secado, y por lo tanto la vida que antes ahí abundaba, ha muerto. Viéndolo así de esta manera no hay que ser tan hábil para sacar la siguiente conclusión, Donde Abunda la Sequía Abunda La Muerte.

De igual manera sucede con las personas, todos contamos con un pedazo de tierra el cual necesita agua para que en él abunde la vida, y este pedazo de tierra es el corazón, de tal manera que si no le suministramos el agua que necesita, el ambiente que en el reinara será un ambiente de muerte. Por lo tanto el ser humano necesita encontrar una fuente de agua que sea inagotable para que pueda mantener su corazón fresco y así de esta manera no ser afectado por la sequía.
 Jesús es nuestra  Fuente Inagotable .....  El Mundo es fuente agotable ,  Jesús es la fuente de agua viva . Con EL no tendremos sed jamás, en  (Juan 7:38) dice, Por nuestro interior correrán ríos de agua viva. " Tendremos Vida Eterna "
 El agua del mundo no calma nuestra sed,  Si bebemos de este mundo recibiremos muerte Y Nuestra sed sera siempre insatisfecha . Este mundo no tiene lo que sacia nuestro espiritu. Solo Jesús puede hacer que por nuestro interior corran ríos de agua viva que traera paz interior y felicidad. Que este dia nos decidamos ser saciados de su Fuente inagotable!

Heaven

While Paul was on the Damascus Road on his way to persecute Christians, He saw heaven open up but whether this was heaven itself or just the first heaven where he saw the light, we cannot be sure.  Acts 9:3-4 described what Paul saw, “As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”  We do not know for sure, according to the scriptures, whether this was the third heaven, where the throne of God was or not, but can assume it was not for Paul only heard a voice from heaven and he saw only a light from heaven.  Nonetheless, heaven is for real and it exists today in every sense of the word.
You may have read or heard about many who have died and seen heaven for themselves.  They describe such a realm that is beyond description.  Some who died and came back to life have said they have seen their lost loved ones in heaven, their family, friends, and some even their pets.  This is difficult to prove, yet the sheer number of those who have seen heaven and came back from death is hard to refute; only they themselves know this for certain.  But the Bible does describe some of what heaven is like in the scriptures.  It is, from the human standpoint, indescribable (I Cor. 2:9).
One young man asked his friend, why don't you go partying  like most of us, and the friend said, I believe in God , in heaven and hell. The young man answered,  how are you  so sure about heaven and hell, no one has seen it. The friend answered, true, I haven't seen it , I only believe what the word of God say. The friend said, I don't believe none of it, that's why I live however I want. You sure are wasting your youth not doing what you want. The friend said, Look, if its true or not what the word of God says, I will not take my chances, because what IF it's all true. Living for God may not be the easiest thing to do, but when we consider heaven our eternal home, it is all worth it!

Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. Revelation 21:27
